Chevrolet Colorado |
|
|
The Chevrolet Colorado is completely redesigned for 2023. |
The Chevrolet Colorado comes with a choice of two engines. The standard truck comes with a 2.7L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 237 horsepower while the second version is tuned for 310 horsepower and 391 lb.-ft of torque. Both engines achieve solid fuel economy numbers. The Colorado is rated at 25 mpg on the highway.
The Colorado is available in as a crew with a 5-foot box, 4x4 is offered in five trims WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2 while the 4x2 is only available in WT and LT models. The crew cab features four doors and rear seats big enough to comfortably sit adults, even on long drives. Four-wheel-drive and 2-wheel-drive variants are available.
WT trims is the base trim and features 4-wheel disc brakes, 17-inch steel wheels, bucket front seats, air conditioning, satellite radio, 6-speakers, an 11.3-inch touchscreen display, AppleCar Play\Android Auto connectivity, 2 USB ports, and an 8-inch instrument gauge display.
The LT trim adds 2 tow hooks and 3 USB ports while the Trail Boss has hill decent control, black exterior accents, 18-inch alloy wheels. The Z71 comes with heated side mirrors, LED head lights, daytime running lights, and fog lights, cruise control, 4 USB ports, and 2 12V AC power outlets.
The ZR2 is more performance based with a 220-amp alternator, driver selectable modes, a driver selectable locking front and rear differential, off-road suspension, off-road low speed cruise control, premium shocks, 4 skid plates, a spray-in bed liner, integrated storage in the pickup bed, bed rail protectors, and an easy-lift and lower tailgate.
Safety features on the Colorado include Stabilitrak stability control, traction control and anti-lock brakes. There are six airbags in the Colorado as well as a active lane departure, forward collision mitigation, front pedestrian detection and a following distance alert. |
Chevrolet calls the Colorado a "mid-sized" pickup truck, but it's actually the smallest pickup truck built by GM, slotting below the Silverado and Silverado HD. The Colorado is available in a couple of cab and bed styles, allowing it to stretch out and haul more cargo depending on the individual trim ordered with the vehicle. The Chevrolet Colorado competes closely with the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier as a truck that can both haul cargo and drive around in the city without any serious concerns about parking or street size. |
Small truck utility; three engine choices, all featuring good fuel economy; car-like ride and handling; strong technology feature set |
